“Fourscore less than one year ago our Grandfather brought forth on to this nation a new company, conceived in honesty, and dedicated to the proposition of trust and that all people deserve a good move at a fair price. Now we are engaged in a great economic upheaval, testing whether our company or any moving company so conceived and so dedicated can long endure”.

As we approach the eightieth Anniversary of Williams Moving & Storage, I look back at the Company’s history and realize that one of the major contributors to our success has been our trustworthy, conscientious and reliable staff over these many years. When my Grandfather, George J. Williams, Sr., founded Williams Transfer in 1929, he did so based on a Mission Statement that is still adhered to approaching our eightieth year:

“A commitment to personalized service, care for all employees and to deliver what is promised without exception.”

Today, the average tenure of Williams’ front-line staff is over eighteen years. And we’re very proud to say that scores of our employees’ years of service range between 20 and 40 years. Thus, recognizing that our people are the driving force behind our successes, we have changed our “Human Resources” department to “Human Capital” department.

This is a significant change and is reflective of how much we appreciate and value the people that reinforce our company TRUST factor. “Resources” are things that tend to get depleted and used-up; like spare parts; however, “Human Capital” is an ASSET, something that embodies TRUST, that our company invests in to keep it replenished, re-juvinated and continuously renewed.
