History of Williams Moving & Storage.

George. J. Williams started “Williams of Vancouver” with one truck at the height of the great depression in 1929 by transporting immigrants and their belongings from the Port of Vancouver to what is known today as China Town. He was also one of the founding members of United Van Lines (Canada) Ltd.

George. S. (Sonny) Williams took over for his father in 1963 and started a new trend by transporting new products for Sears Canada in British Columbia. The company grew tremendously during Sonny’s leadership from a couple of branch locations to a multitude of offices throughout BC and Alberta.

George. J. (Jim) Williams took over for his father in the mid 90's after Sonny was diagnosed with ALS or as it is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He continued the trend of diversification by creating a Williams Commercial Division, expanding Williams Moving International and a development division.

Williams Moving & Storage is the largest member of United Van Lines, Canada and since the beginning almost, 60 years ago we have always had a member of our team sit as a director and or a Chairman of the Board. George. J. (Jim) Williams was the longest standing Chairman of United Canada running over 5 years.

Williams Moving & Storage is currently the only moving company in Canada that has had four generations of family working within it as it pushes to keep history alive.
