The ALS Society of British Columbia – Williams Moving & Storage’s Charity of Choice.

When former President & CEO Sonny Williams was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, which is better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease, his family members and employees had no idea of how devastating of a disease it is.

When Sonny succumbed to ALS in 1996, the Williams family knew that something had to be done to assist other families who were dealing with the disease. The family and company employees raised money for The ALS Society of British Columbia until 2003, when they decided something different had to be done.

In 2003, The George Sonny Williams Endowment Fund was born. The fund was created to raise money to assist caregivers of ALS patients. The Williams family learned first hand how difficult it is to care for someone living with ALS. It is a 24/7 job that has no quit. It is emotionally and physically devastating. The George Sonny Williams Endowment Fund helps these caregivers by supplying them with resources and support to assist them. The ALS Society of BC and Williams Moving has also organized Caregiver Days, which are held around the province. Williams is the only moving company to have a charity program like this in place. The Caregiver Days are designed for caregivers to meet with other caregivers, so they can share their stories and know that they are not alone in the fight against ALS.
